On 18th October 2020, a march which was scheduled to be held in Mbabane in protest against an alcohol ban imposed as a COVID-19 restriction was banned by the police and the local authorities, who said that a request to hold the march had not been submitted on time. The organisers, Swaziland National Liquor Association (SNLA), had planned to march in Mbabane to deliver petitions to the Swazi Prime Minister, the South African High Commission and the European Union Commission citing the serious effects the ban was having on jobs and businesses in the sector.
