As Israeli violations on media freedoms continue, the Syndicate of Lebanese Press Editors announced that they plan to join lawsuits demanding the International Criminal Court (ICC) punish Israel for its “crimes”. Several human rights groups documented the violations committed by Israel in Lebanon, including the deliberate strikes against journalists. This came after two Israeli strikes were launched on a group of Lebanese, American and Iraqi journalists in south Lebanon on 13th October 2023. Human Rights Watch characterised these attacks as deliberate attacks on civilians. HRW reported that evidence indicated that the Israeli military knew or should have known that the group of people they were firing on were civilians.

In separate developments, in March 2024, SMEX documented that digital violence against women in Lebanon is on the rise, with a shocking number of cases being reported. The statistics show that between 2020 and 2023, 80% of the targets of digital violence were women, compared to 20% for men.
