Amendments to Law on Non-Profit Entities passed

Association

On 8th September, Bulgaria's National Assembly passed a series of amendments to the Law of Non-Profit entities. The new regulations, which enter into force on 1st January 2018, transfer the registration process for CSOs from the courts to the Registry Agency. All existing non-profit organisations will have a period of three years (that is, until the end of 2020) to transfer their registration to the Registry Agency. Applications will be submitted free of charge, in electronic format and using electronic signatures. As previously reported on the Monitor, Bulgarian CSOs are concerned that this change in law could negatively impact their activities while they become accustomed to complying with the new regulations.
