Activists denounced harassment against LGBTQI+ community

On 26th June 2023, in connection with Panama Pride events, journalists and activists denounced the harassment and violence against those who identify themselves as LGBTQI+. In particular, journalists Franklyn Robinson and Isaías Cedeño condemned the ongoing bullying in the media towards LGBTQI+ people as well as towards the journalists based on their sexual orientation. For example, Cedeño was victim of a homophobic smear campaign through a series of stigmatising videos disseminated on social media in an effort to discredit him and his work after he had publicly criticised the government of Panama for the rising cost of living.
