LGBTI activists and supporters gather for Pride events in Amsterdam

On 29th July 2017, thousands of people participated in the Gay Pride Canal Walk in Amsterdam as the opening event for Pride Week in the country. There were no reports of violence at or prevention of any Pride-related events from taking place during the week. 

On 13th August, hundreds of people marched in Amersfoort to protest the deportation of two children and their mother to Armenia. The protesters petitioned State Secretary Dijkhoff to protect the family and allow them to keep their residence permits.


On 25th July 2017, Leefbaar Rotterdam (the coalition party in Rotterdam) called for the prosecution of people who shouted anti-Semitic phrases during a demonstration in Rotterdam against Israel's decision to place greater security measures on the Temple Mount.

On 1st August, the court case of an 18-year-old who put a price of 100,000 EUR on the heads of the journalists Annabel Nanninga and Esther Voet, threatening them on Twitter, was postponed. The court requested more information on the context in which the threats were issued before proceeding with the case.
