On 2nd February 2017, the offices of the Danish Council for Refugees (DRC) and International Rescue Committee (IRC), were raided and plundered during an armed attack on the town of Bocaranga. According to unofficial reports,18 residents were killed during the attack. The two above-mentioned international NGOs' facilities were reportedly looted and burned down by armed men. A humanitarian worker, who was able to leave Bocaranga after the attack, spoke of a "systematic plundering of the DRC office before the fire." The IRC office was attacked on the same day by assailants who looted "everything," according to another humanitarian worker. Antibalaka militia was reported to be in the town of Bocaranga, despite the patrols by peacekeepers, with residents forced to seek refuge in the MINUSCA base.
