In October, Lasse Anrell, a Swedish journalist and sports reporter at Nya Wermlands Tidningen (NWT), received a hand-written death threat after he wrote an article criticising alleged doping scandals among Norwegian skiers. The article called for all Norwegian skiers to be banned for two years and described mass consumption of asthma medicine within the team. The threatening letter, written in Norwegian, was handed over to the authorities by Anrell's employers NWT. Following the publication of the article, Swedish media reported that Arnell's writing had made him 'the most hated man in Norway'.
