On 21st November 2017, Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) announced the suspension of its activities in Bangassou, southeast CAR, due to a violent armed robbery of its base on 20th November. All 58 MSF staff members were evacuated.

Peaceful Assembly

On 24th November 2017, scores of young people protested against MINUSCA - the UN mission in the CAR located in Bangui - after a student was ran over by a vehicle in the morning and died. The protesters blamed the UN for the incident and set two UN vehicles on fire. In addition, a vehicle with firefighters was also attacked, leaving one firefighter injured. The government and MINUSCA later declared that the vehicle that killed the student was not part of the UN fleet. One protester expressed frustration to France 24 over MINUSCA's actions in the country, stating that the UN mission remains mostly in Bangui, rarely getting outside and into the regions.
