Civic freedoms, including freedoms of association, peaceful assembly, and expression, are routinely and violently repressed in Zimbabwe. Amidst a renewed recent wave of online and offline protests, state authorities have continued to harass, and arbitrarily arrest those exercising their rights to assemble and voice dissent. Human rights defenders have been subject to assaults, arbitrary arrest, and enforced disappearance.
