Haitian photojournalist Vladjimir Legagneur - missing since 14th March

On 14th March 2018, Haitian freelance journalist Vladjimir Legagneur went missing after he had left his home and reportedly traveled to the Grand-Ravine neighbourhood in Port-au-Prince. The journalist had a project covering the violent and deadly clashes that have reportedly erupted between police and gangs in neighbourhoods in the capital city. Although the journalist's wife filed a missing person's report, the police have thus far not provided any information on his case and possible whereabouts, rather declaring that "they fear a fatal outcome" in regards to his disappearance. 

The National Association of Haitian Media expressed concern over the lack of information being provided by the police on the case. In addition, the Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights urged: 

 [T]he Haitian authorities to adopt the necessary measures to determine the situation and whereabouts of the journalist Vladjimir Legagneur, missing since March 14, 2018 in one of the most dangerous areas of the capital of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In addition to protecting the rights to life and personal integrity of Legagneur, the State must direct a thorough investigation into the alleged events that led to his disappearance".
