On 19th October, a new hearing was held in the trial of RFI correspondent Ahmed Abba, who is being prosecuted for complicity with acts of terrorism and failing to report acts of terrorism. Abba's lawyers had argued for his release and questioned the lack of evidence against him. Although the court rejected the application for Abba's acquittal, the judge also rejected an expert report submitted as evidence by the prosecution. The court subsequently appointed a new panel of two experts and gave them a period of one month to analyse the information in Abba's case and produce a new expert report. The report will be discused at the next hearing in his case which has been scheduled for 7th December. Meanwhile, Ahmed Abba will remain in custody.
